How We Met

Mary Immaculate Parish

It all began at church, where Kyle first noticed Ovindi. After Mass one Sunday, he waited by the door and struck up a friendly conversation. Kyle casually invited her to join the youth group — but when she politely declined, he admitted the real reason he wanted to talk: he’d seen her at church and was hoping to ask her out. She smiled, said she wasn’t interested, and walked away.

But Kyle wasn’t ready to give up just yet. The following week, he was waiting outside church again — and this time, he asked if she'd like to grab a coffee. His persistence paid off: she said yes.

The First Date

At the café, there was a mix-up with the order, and the waiter accidentally gave Kyle a coffee shot — even though he doesn’t like strong coffee. Instead of sending it back, he drank it anyway, trying to keep a straight face the whole time. Ovindi kept watching to see if he’d react, but he didn’t flinch once.

Later, when she asked how the coffee was, he laughed and admitted it was so bitter — but he wanted to impress her.

And that’s how their story began — with determination, a lot of caffeine, and a very good poker face.

The Proposal

When Kyle realised Ovindi was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, he began planning a moment worthy of their love. With a ring in his pocket and nerves running high, he chose a place that held deep meaning — his family church.

Surrounded by loved ones and in the house of God, Kyle got down on one knee and asked the most important question of his life.

With a heart full of love, Ovindi said yes — and in that sacred space, a new chapter of their story began.

Now, they’ll be saying “I do” in the very same church where they got engaged — beginning their forever right where it all started.

Traditional Indian/Sri Lankan attire or formal wear is welcome.

Sarees, sherwanis, or suits and dresses — whatever you feel most comfortable and festive in. Bright colours are encouraged, and don't be afraid to accessorise!

Yes! There is parking available at both the Church and the Reception Venue.

We kindly ask that phones and cameras be put away during our church ceremony, so everyone can be fully present for this special moment with us.

But after that — snap away! 📸 We’d love for you to capture and share memories from the rest of the day. Keep an eye out for our QR code to upload your favourite shots — we can’t wait to see the day through your eyes!

Your presence is the greatest gift of all, and we’re so grateful to celebrate this special day with you!

While gifts are not expected, we will have a wishing well at the venue for those who would like to contribute.

All our events are undercover, and locations will remain the same, no matter the weather. So come ready to celebrate, whatever the forecast!

We adore your little ones, but we’ve chosen to keep our celebration adults only, with the exception of children who are immediate family.

We hope this allows everyone to relax, unwind, and enjoy the evening with us. Thank you so much for your understanding!

Due to limited space, we’re keeping our celebration intimate and are only able to accommodate those specifically named on the invitation.
